The Tonic – Thistle (Safflower) is known for liver support and Arthritis, it’s high in flavonoids (anti-oxidant) which make it good for skincare. Sea Buckthorn is high in omega 7 (rare to find in plants) and beta carotene and it was used for convalescing, mouth inflammation and ulcers as it supports the mucous membranes. More recently in the 20th century, it’s been recognized for its many vitamins and minerals and used for skin conditions including UV damage, Psoriasis and Eczema. Horse Chestnut was used for vascular complaints and is beneficial for reducing the appearance of thread veins. Manuka, while not a native remedy in the UK is exceptional at everything! The tree is known as the medicine tree in its native New Zealand and Australia. It’s anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. Calendula and Chamomile were used for healing, cooling and soothing and are great for any skin condition.
